Weather and climate data: Daily data per month
The graph below shows the current temperature, precipitation and sunshine duration for numerous MeteoSwiss measuring stations. Incl. comparison with the climate standard values 1961-1990, 1981-2010 or 1991-2020. Scope: Daily data for one month.
Deviations of the monthly values from the climate norms
Measuring station: Aadorf / Tänikon (540m), September 2025
The definitive deviations for this month will be displayed from 1 October 2025.
Physical quantity | Monthly value | Standard value | Deviation | Unit | % | Data % |
Temperature | 15.2 | 13.6 | +1.6 | °C | | 99.9 |
Precipitation | 44.4 | 90.5 | -46.1 | mm | -50.9 | 99.9 |
Sunshine duration | 26.2 | 148.4 | -122.2 | Std. | -82.3 | 99.9 |

Aim of these graphics
We developed these graphics for our work
SwissGlaciers.org and
SwissNature.org.
The weather and climate are of crucial importance in these two works. We hope that the graphics will enable us to better recognise and illustrate correlations.
The graphics are a first draft. Various extensions are in preparation.
Origin of the data
The graphics are based on the measurement data that MeteoSwiss collects every 10 minutes and makes available for use in non-commercial applications.
The measured values are instantaneous values (e.g. temperature) or ten-minute totals (e.g. precipitation and sunshine).
Calculations
We currently calculate the following values from the data provided by MeteoSwiss:
- Temperature: average, minimum and maximum (day)
- Precipitation: Daily total
- Sunshine duration: Daily total
The following factors lead to inaccuracies in the calculations:
- MeteoSwiss stores the measurement data with UTC time. We use UTC 0:00 - UTC 23:59:59 to calculate the daily values. Time differences (time zone and winter/summer time) are not yet taken into account. This results in inaccuracies for the daily values for temperature and precipitation, and to a lesser extent for the monthly values.
- Any measurement gaps are recognised by the calculations but not corrected (e.g. by interpolation). The intention is to mark days with measurement gaps in the graphs accordingly.
Availability of data
We have been storing the measurement data since 1. December 2023.
